Caregiving Ministries

Unconditional love is the authenticating mark to the unbelieving world that we are followers of Jesus Christ.  This kind of love, as exemplified in Jesus' death, is so out of step with the world's way that others take notice.

If you are going through a difficult time, struggling with a situation, or trying to overcome a damaging hurt, hang-up, or habit, we want to help.  For more information or assistance with our caregiving ministries, contact the church office at 724-352-2777.

St. Luke's Caregiving Ministries:

Prayer Chain -  There are many devoted caregivers who share one another's burdens by praying together on the phone and passing the prayer along to the next prayer partner.  If you have a request that you would desire the members of St. Luke to keep in prayer, please let us know.

Divorce Care - .A DivorceCare® group will begin meeting at St. Luke Church on May 3, 2011. For more information, contact the church office.

Visitation - Members of St. Luke's Visitation ministry offer support and prayer to those who are in the hospital or at home recovering.  To request a visit, contact the church office.

Food Pantry - Throughout the Bible, we are told by God to help, encourage and support one another spiritually and physically.  Supported and funded by the congregation, the Food Pantry was started to help families in our community with the physical support of groceries.  Recipients (families in need due to illness, job loss, divorce, and other situations) can be short or long term and are kept strictly confidential.  Contact the church office for more information.

Christian Counseling -  St. Luke supports the Samaritan Counseling Center, a full service counseling center committed to using the resources of the Christian faith in helping individuals and families achieve emotional, spiritual and physical well being.  For more information or to make an appointment, contact the Samaritan Center at 724-352-7117.

Stephen Ministry - Highly trained Christian caregivers provide one-on-one support and encouragement to those who are experiencing crisis for a variety of reasons.  They care for people or the family and friends of people who are (for example) grieving, in a crisis, in need of long-term care, dying, hospitalized, divorcing, experiencing losses as they age, or going through a crisis of childbirth.  God works through Stephen Ministers to plant a seed of hope and healing in a person whose life seems barren and forlorn because of some crisis or tragedy.  Stephen Ministers listen, explore feelings, pray, share Christ's love, maintain confidentiality, attend to the caregiving process, and leave the results to God. For more information about Stephen Ministry, contact the church office.

Celebrate Recovery - Celebrate Recovery® is a ministry where together we work toward healing by applying the principles outlined by Jesus in His Sermon on the Mount along with the classic twelve steps presented from a Christian perspective. Celebrate Recovery® offers a place for support, understanding and fellowship. It's about the physical and emotional chaos of addiction, abuse and dysfunction ― but it's also much more. Celebrate Recovery® is for anyone who hurts. It's a place where all of us who are burdened can find acceptance, understanding and finally, a means to peace. For more information about Celebrate Recovery beginning in September, 2008, contact our church office at 724-352-2777 or stluke@stlukecabot.org

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles,
so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves
have received from God."
(2 Corinthians 1:3,4.)
