House Build Servant Day

A congregational mission trip will happen in our own backyard and you are invited to participate.  On September 16 from 8:30 a.m. to early afternoon two entire houses will be framed in the school parking lot. On Sunday the walls will be taken down, loaded on a truck, and taken to West Virginia where the house will be completed by Fuller Center for Housing.  Sounds like fun, sounds a little crazy, sounds like a day of giving.

St. Luke is pleased to be working with Crossroads Missions – Help Build Hope based in Louisville, Kentucky on this project. Guides from Crossroads will be on hand all weekend to instruct.

No experience is necessary. It’s for all ages from 5 to 95. Work as a family, individually, or as a group. All tools and equipment provided.

Other Ways to be Involved on Saturday, September 16th.

If framing a house is not your desire, then maybe your talents can be used on September 16 helping with the following projects:

1. Dress A Girl Around the World

Bright, colorful dresses will be cut out and sewn. There is material to be cut, thread to be sorted, and dresses to be made.  Sewers and non-sewers are encouraged to come, as there is something for everyone to do.

2. Making Christmas Cards for Military and their families

Christmas cards will be put together and messages written in them for the military.  Cards will also be constructed and given to soldiers for them to send to their families.

3. Fleece Blankets for Ronald McDonald House in Pittsburgh

Every family receives a fleece blanket during their stay at Ronald McDonald House.  Join us as blankets are tied to be given to families and children during a difficult time.

4. Bible Verse Marking for Allegheny County Prison

What a way to be a witness for the Gospel! Spend some time highlighting special verses that point to the message of salvation.

5. Package Dry Soup Mix for Local Food Pantries

Help prepare and pack a dry soup mix (chicken and noodle) into freezer bags.  The soup mix will be given to St. Luke Food Pantry, Katie’s Kitchen, and other area food distributions.

We’re building houses, we’re helping others.

We’re serving Christ.
