Tell us a little about yourself and your family.

My name is James Thiele, I am a 6th Generation Dairy Farmer, with my Parents Ed and Lorraine, & twin brother William. We milk about 40 cows and farm about 300 acres in Cabot. I married my wife Marella on August 10th, 2025, we have six chickens and a Chinchilla named Carlos.

How long have you been a member of our congregation, and what first brought you here?

I graduated from St. Luke School in 2008 and I am also the 4th Generation (at least) to worship and be a member of St. Luke, so my family and going to the school brought me here.

What or who inspired you to serve at our church?

There are a few people that inspired me to be involved, Jim Yurisic first asked me to be on the Board of Lay Leaders, I talked to Sarah Cook about being involved and she assured me that being on the board would be a wonderful thing to be a part of, and I have enjoyed it so far!

Is there a Bible verse that is especially meaningful to you, and why?

Colossians 3:23 " Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the lord, not for human master" The reason why this verse means a lot to me is that it reminds me to always seek the Lord no matter what you do, everything you do you are doing it for the Lord our God. This verse is also on a magnet in our shed on the farm, and I have also used this Verse during a few speeches I have done for Farm Bureau.

What is one thing you enjoy most about serving our congregation?

Being one of the new members of BLL, the thing I enjoy the most is meeting new people and making new friends and doing what I can to serve the Lord and St. Luke.

What would you tell someone new to our church is the most important thing they should do during their time here?

What I would say to someone new to our congregation is to get to know people, get involved, come to voters' meetings, go to Bible study, help us to gather, grow and go at St. Luke.

What is a hobby, interest, or fun fact that most people at church may not know about you?

Along with Farming, I am currently involved in Farm Bureau. It is an Agricultural Advocacy Organization, we talk to our legislators about priorities that matter to most to farmers, I've been to Harrisburg and Washington D.C advocating for better policy for Farmers. I am currently President of Butler County Farm Bureau. I also have a 1919 Model T Ford Touring Car and am a member of the Western Pa Model T Ford Club.

What ministry or mission excites you the most?

So, for this one I'm not sure, I've only been involved in the church for a few months. The one I do see people are very passionate about is VBS, I think that is one of the strengths of the church and school.

What is one hope or prayer you have for our congregation's future?

My hope and prayer for the congregation is that no matter what comes the church will stick together. The one thing I love about this congregation is that no matter what comes up we will support each other. Another prayer and hope I have is that we will continue to encourage younger people to get involved in the Church, because that is where the future of the congregation is.

How can our church family be praying for you?

Well, my wife and I have been married for over a year now, so I would ask the church to pray for our new marriage!
